Introduction
Our
communities’ youth recreational offerings, outside of recess and /or
P.E., pale in comparison to that of the educational sect.
I am sure that we share in the philosophy that the education of
our youth is of the utmost importance, and also recognizing the large
role that recreational activity plays in the educational enhancement of
our children. Currently,
most of this city’s recreational programs take place outside of the East
Yuma and/or Foothills areas, regardless of the constant growth of these
communities.
At last count, District One Schools located east of
Ave 3E (Castle Dome, Desert Mesa, Otondo, Ron Watson, and Sunrise
Schools) consist of a combined 3,420 students. While this figure is constantly changing, there is no doubt a
huge opportunity arises to provide our community with the resources for local,
organized, after-school recreation.
I introduce to you SWAYSA, or South West Arizona Youth
Soccer Academy, a youth-oriented, Non-profit organization, aimed at
providing youth leagues, camps, tournaments, and clinics in both
recreational and competitive settings. SWAYSA’s goal is to serve the community as a source of recreation
“closer to home.”
As an introduction to SWAYSA we will be offering all
schools the opportunity for the students to experience a mini soccer
clinic. This will take place during the students PE time. I will come
and work with the students as well as the PE teachers and provide the
best 30 min of action packed fun that all will enjoy. If your school is
interested please contact me at (928)581-8097
Respectfully,
Lester Favish
